2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives are pleased to congratulate Police Chief | ||||||
4 | Donald E. Bennett of Plainfield on the occasion of his | ||||||
5 | retirement from the Plainfield Police Department after 24 years | ||||||
6 | with the Department and a total of 42 years of dedicated | ||||||
7 | service in law enforcement; and
| ||||||
8 | WHEREAS, Donald E. Bennett was born in Milledgeville, | ||||||
9 | Illinois on October 16, 1945, and served in the United States | ||||||
10 | Air Force from 1963 to 1967; after being honorably discharged | ||||||
11 | from the military, Chief Bennett married Patricia Taubert on | ||||||
12 | July 26, 1969; the couple has 2 children, Heather and Jennifer | ||||||
13 | (Aaron), and 3 grandchildren, Ian, Alaina, and Halle; and
| ||||||
14 | WHEREAS, Chief Bennett received his bachelor's degree in | ||||||
15 | criminal justice from Metropolitan College in Denver, Colorado | ||||||
16 | in 1977; in 1998, he earned his master's degree in criminal | ||||||
17 | justice from Western Illinois University; and | ||||||
18 | WHEREAS, In 1983, Chief Bennett attended the 134th Session | ||||||
19 | of the FBI Academy in Quantico, Virginia; he also attended the | ||||||
20 | Northwestern University School of Staff and Command from 1993 | ||||||
21 | to 1994 and the Illinois Law Enforcement Executive Institute's | ||||||
22 | Executive Management Program in 1996; and

1 | WHEREAS, Chief Bennett is a member of the International | ||||||
2 | Association of Chiefs of Police and the Illinois Association of | ||||||
3 | Chiefs of Police; he is an active member of the Police Chiefs | ||||||
4 | Association of Will County, serving as the organization's | ||||||
5 | President in 2000; he is also a member of the DuPage County | ||||||
6 | Chiefs of Police Association and the Kendall County Chiefs of | ||||||
7 | Police; and
| ||||||
8 | WHEREAS, Chief Bennett has served as the Treasurer of the | ||||||
9 | Western Will County Communications Center and the Illinois Law | ||||||
10 | Enforcement Alarm System since the inception of both | ||||||
11 | organizations; he has also served as the coordinator of | ||||||
12 | Plainfield's Emergency Management Agency since 1985; and
| ||||||
13 | WHEREAS, Chief Bennett was named the Plainfield Village | ||||||
14 | Employee of the Year in 1996; he was also the recipient of the | ||||||
15 | School District 202 Coordination of Administration and Parents | ||||||
16 | Groups for Educational Efficiency Recognition Award in 1999 for | ||||||
17 | his leadership and service to the Plainfield community; | ||||||
18 | therefore, be it

19 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
20 | NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
21 | congratulate Police Chief Donald E. Bennett of Plainfield on | ||||||
22 | the occasion of his 42 years of dedicated service in law |

1 | enforcement and community leadership for the people of | ||||||
2 | Plainfield, the State of Illinois, and the United States of | ||||||
3 | America and wish him the best in his retirement years; and be | ||||||
4 | it further

5 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
6 | presented to Chief Donald E. Bennett and his wife, Patricia | ||||||
7 | Bennett, as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
