HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate the administration, faculty, and students of the Willowbrook High School in Villa Park on the occasion of the school's 50th anniversary in 2009; and

WHEREAS, Willowbrook High School was opened in the fall of 1959 to serve students from the communities of Lombard, Villa Park, Oak Brook, Oakbrook Terrace, and Elmhurst; the school's student population currently totals approximately 2,200 students in grades 9-12; and

WHEREAS, Willowbrook High School has earned academic distinction as one of the Top 1,500 public high schools in the nation as ranked by Newsweek for the past 2 years; and

WHEREAS, The Willowbrook High School community has celebrated the 50th anniversary of the school with Homecoming activities in October of 2009; the school has planned to induct the first ever Athletic Hall of Fame class in February of 2010 and present a memorial dedication in May of 2010 to honor veterans and former graduates whose lives have been lost while serving our country; the school district has also funded significant renovations to the school, which are slated for completion in the fall of 2010; and

WHEREAS, The 50th anniversary of Willowbrook High School is a significant milestone of "Pride, Tradition and Excellence" of the school's administration, staff, and students; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the administration, faculty, and students of the Willowbrook High School in Villa Park on the occasion of the school's 50th anniversary and wish them continued success and happiness in the future; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Dan Krause, Principal of Willowbrook High School, as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
