HOUSE RESOLUTION

    WHEREAS, Ed and Ron Gadek, a father and son partnership, 
3
have served their North Shore customers for a combination of 50 
4
years; Dad, Ed, for 35 years and son, Ron, for 15 years; and
  
 
5
    WHEREAS, The Gadeks' Cherry Lane Do It Best Home Center has 
6
been a good corporate citizen for decades in Northbrook; today 
7
there are 23 helpful customer service associates at the Center; 
8
and
  
 
9
    WHEREAS, Following the departure of  one of the Gadeks' 
10
friendly competitors, Jack's Ace Hardware on Dundee Road in far 
11
west Northbrook, the Gadeks bought out their competition; and
  
 
12
    WHEREAS, The Gadeks totally rejuvenated the site and 
13
converted it into a brand new Do It Best Home Center and 
14
rehired all twelve of Jack's former employees so all their 
15
customers would continue to receive the best service; and
  
 
16
    WHEREAS, The Gadeks also hired eight new associates for the 
17
new store; and
  
 
18
    WHEREAS, The Gadeks have continued to demonstrate they are 
19
good corporate citizens by caring about their community, 
20
keeping people employed, and striving to keep the economy

healthy in the Northbrook area; therefore, be it

    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
3
NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
4
thank Ed and Ron Gadek and wish them continued success in both 
5
Do It Best Home Center locations; and be it further
  
 
6
    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
7
presented to Ed and Ron Gadek as a symbol of our respect and 
8
esteem.
