HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate the members of the Elgin Community College mock trial team on the occasion of the team's victory at Harvard University's annual Crimson Classic mock trial tournament; and

WHEREAS, The Elgin Community College mock trial team was one of 11 teams participating in the 2-day Crimson Classic mock trial tournament; the team beat Villanova in the tournament's first round and beat Yale in the third round before losing to Princeton in the final round; ECC ended the tournament with a better record than Boston College's "A" team, Wake Forest, Boston University, Dartmouth's A & B teams, and Wellesley's A & B teams; the team also tied with Penn State; and

WHEREAS, Elgin Community College was the only community college to compete in the Harvard tournament; in addition, ECC is one of only two community colleges competing in American Mock Trial Association tournaments; and

WHEREAS, The Elgin Community College mock trial team plans to participate in several more tournaments in 2009 before taking part in the American Mock Trial Association regional tournament in February of 2010; and

WHEREAS, The Elgin Community College mock trial team serves as a model of hard work, integrity, and dedication for the people of the State of Illinois; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the members of the Elgin Community College mock trial team on the occasion of the team's victory and wish them continued success and happiness in the future; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the members of the Elgin Community College mock trial team as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
