HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate William McLeod on the occasion of his 60th birthday on November 28, 2009; and

WHEREAS, Bill McLeod was born on November 28, 1949, in Chicago to Donald and Margaret McLeod; and

WHEREAS, At a young age, Bill McLeod was tutored by his older brother, John, in the ways of walking precincts; taking to his new task easily, he worked hard to convince Chicago Democrats to switch their vote for his Republican candidate and loved looking at the totals on election night; and

WHEREAS, In 1978, Bill McLeod moved to Hoffman Estates; in 1980, he was appointed to the Hoffman Estates Village Board, where he served as trustee until 2000; in 2000, he was elected to serve as Mayor; and

WHEREAS, Bill McLeod has devoted great amounts to time and effort to the Village of Hoffman Estates, particularly during election season; he has gone through many pairs of shoes, taken several falls, journeyed through huge snowpiles, survived every kind of rain and snow shower, and ignored hunger, holidays, and lack of sleep to secure victory on Election Day for himself and those he supports; and

WHEREAS, Bill McLeod enjoys mowing his lawn, reading, meeting people and listening to their stories, and watching the History Channel; and

WHEREAS, Bill McLeod is the devoted husband of Joane and the loving stepfather of 8 children; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate William McLeod on the occasion of his 60th birthday and wish him many happy and healthy years to come; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Bill McLeod as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
