| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |

| Representatives are pleased to congratulate Joe Aden on the |
| 4 |
| occasion of his 32 years of dedicated service as Mayor of the |
| 5 |
| Village of East Cape; and
|
| 6 |
| WHEREAS, Joe Aden was born in 1940 on a farm in Dongola; he |
| 7 |
| graduated from Dongola High School in 1958, where he was the |
| 8 |
| 2nd highest scorer in Illinois basketball history and the 3rd |
| 9 |
| highest scorer in the nation in 1958; in 1985, he was inducted |
| 10 |
| into the Illinois Basketball Hall of Fame; and
|
| 11 |
| WHEREAS, Joe Aden earned his bachelor's degree from Union |
| 12 |
| University in 1962 and his master's degree from Southeast |
| 13 |
| Missouri State University in 1968; and
|
| 14 |
| WHEREAS, Joe Aden became one of the first trustees of the |
| 15 |
| Village of East Cape when the village became incorporated in |
| 16 |
| 1975; in 1977, he became Mayor, a position he held until 2009; |
| 17 |
| and
|
| 18 |
| WHEREAS, During his tenure with the Village of East Cape, |
| 19 |
| Joe Aden was instrumental in the establishment of James |
| 20 |
| Bartleson Park, the acquisition of the village's natural gas |
| 21 |
| system, sewer system, and playground equipment, and the |
