| HOUSE RESOLUTION
|

| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
3 |
| Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Wilbur |
4 |
| Allen Meyer of Moline, who passed away on November 9, 2009; and
|
5 |
| WHEREAS, Wilbur Meyer was born on August 1, 1926 in |
6 |
| Washington, Iowa; he was the son of Herman and Ruby House |
7 |
| Meyer; and
|
8 |
| WHEREAS, Wilbur Meyer married his loving wife, Joan |
9 |
| Connors, on January 22, 1946, in Burlington, Iowa; they |
10 |
| celebrated a wonderful life together for over 63 years; and
|
11 |
| WHEREAS, Wilbur Meyer answered the call of his country |
12 |
| through his service as a Machinist Mate in the United States |
13 |
| Navy during World War II, during which he served honorably in |
14 |
| the Pacific Theater; he was an atomic veteran, bearing witness |
15 |
| to the birth of the Nuclear Age with his duties aboard the |
16 |
| U.S.S. Bladen (APA-63) during Operation Crossroads; he also |
17 |
| served aboard the U.S.S. Elokomin (AO-55) and at Naval Air |
18 |
| Station Attu in Alaska; and
|
19 |
| WHEREAS, Wilbur Meyer was employed as a production manager |
20 |
| for F.W. Means & Company of Moline for 37 years until his |
21 |
| retirement in 1989; and
|
|

| WHEREAS, Wilbur Meyer was an avid fisherman who enjoyed |
2 |
| fishing the waters of Illinois and Minnesota; and
|
3 |
| WHEREAS, Wilbur Meyer was an active member of Sacred Heart |
4 |
| Parish in Moline; and
|
5 |
| WHEREAS, Wilbur Meyer was preceded in death by his parents; |
6 |
| his son, Colin; his sisters, Ruth, Kate, Phyllis, Ilene, |
7 |
| Maxine, and Helen; and his brother, Charles; and
|
8 |
| WHEREAS, Wilbur Meyer is survived by his wife, Joan; his |
9 |
| daughter, Julie (Carter) Crile; his son, Mark (Kathy) Meyer; |
10 |
| his grandsons, Mark (Nancy) Meyer Jr. and Andrew (Kate) Meyer; |
11 |
| his sister, Sherrie (Dan) Nelson; his brother, Robert (Cy) |
12 |
| Meyer; and his many nieces and nephews; and |
13 |
| WHEREAS, Wilbur Meyer will be remembered by all who knew |
14 |
| and loved him as a loving father and husband, a veteran of |
15 |
| World War II, and a kind and hard-working member of his |
16 |
| community; therefore, be it
|

| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
18 |
| NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we |
19 |
| mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Wilbur |
20 |
| Allen Meyer; and be it further
