HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2
    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3
Representatives are pleased to congratulate Allana Chittick on 
4
being selected to receive the National Youth Leadership Award 
5
from the Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of America; and
  
 
6
    WHEREAS, Allana is a senior at Paris Cooperative High 
7
School and an honor student; she was selected to the honors 
8
choir for the Illinois Music Educators Association, served as 
9
Sergeant of the school dance team, and participated in school 
10
drama and musical productions; she provided mentoring to 4th 
11
and 5th grade underprivileged students, was a member of the 
12
Spanish club, choreographed the annual May Fete celebration for 
13
3 years, taught swim lessons to children and senior citizens 
14
and swimming on the YMCA/Paris School District swim team, and 
15
was also a life guard; and
  
 
16
    WHEREAS, Allana has been involved in The Coalition Against 
17
Methamphetamine Abuse (CAMA) since she was nine years old; she 
18
later served as Secretary and Vice President for the CAMA Teens 
19
when she entered high school, and through that role she has 
20
worked on underage drinking campaigns and assisted in 
21
conducting tobacco compliance checks in three counties; and
  
 
22
    WHEREAS, She collaborated with the Pontiac Prescription

Drug Disposal Program and "Operation Medicine Cabinet" which 
2
yielded over 120 pounds of expired medications, and she is 
3
working to establish local permanent drop-off sites in 
4
partnership with law enforcement; she supported annual 
5
all-county prevention conferences called P.A.R.T.Y (Positive 
6
Actions Relating to Youth); and she presented awareness 
7
campaigns to the local school board as well as international 
8
visitors from Great Britain; and
  
 
9
    WHEREAS, In 2007, Allana was one of three CAMA teens who 
10
participated in National Youth Training in Tucson, Arizona; and
  
 
11
    WHEREAS, Participation in National Youth Training is 
12
required for eligibility to be considered for the National 
13
Youth Leadership Award; therefore, be it
  
 
14
    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
15
NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
16
congratulate Allana Chittick for receiving the National Youth 
17
Leadership Award; and be it further
  
 
18
    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
19
presented to Allana Chittick as a symbol of our respect and 
20
esteem.
