HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2
    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3
Representatives are pleased to congratulate the students, 
4
faculty, and staff of the Technology Center of DuPage in 
5
Addison on the occasion of the center's 35th anniversary in 
6
2010; and
  
 
7
    WHEREAS, The Technology Center of DuPage opened during the 
8
1974-75 school year in the 250,000-square-foot building where 
9
it stands today on Schick Road in Addison; in the beginning, 
10
only 8 districts participated in the center's vocational 
11
programs; in addition, the center originally only targeted 
12
students who were not college-bound; and
  
 
13
    WHEREAS, Today, the Technology Center of DuPage serves 
14
students from 24 districts who take classes at the center as 
15
part of their electives; the students can also earn dual 
16
college credit in partnership with College of DuPage; all 21 
17
programs at the school focus on career exploration, 
18
occupational training, workplace skills, and preparing 
19
students for possible secondary education in their field; and
  
 
20
    WHEREAS, The Technology Center of DuPage intends to 
21
continue its steady growth with a new program entitled Project 
22
Lead the Way; the project, a pre-engineering program, offers

instruction in computer-aided design and manufacturing and 
2
digital electronics; the program also will allow participants 
3
to obtain university credit; and
  
 
4
    WHEREAS, For the past 35 years, the Technology Center of 
5
DuPage has served as an example to follow for career and 
6
technical education institutions throughout the State of 
7
Illinois and the nation at large; therefore, be it
  
 
8
    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
9
NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
10
congratulate the students, faculty, and staff of the Technology 
11
Center of DuPage on the occasion of the center's 35th 
12
anniversary and wish them continued success and happiness in 
13
the future; and be it further
  
 
14
    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
15
presented to Steve Clark, director of the   Technology Center of 
16
DuPage, as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
