HOUSE RESOLUTION

    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3
Representatives are pleased to honor the student teams from 
4
Wheaton North High School for receiving first and second place 
5
in the Stock Market Game (SMG) program during the spring 2009 
6
session; and

 
7
    WHEREAS, The Illinois Council on Economic Education (ICEE) 
8
has coordinated The Stock Market Game program for Illinois 
9
teachers and their students for the past 20 years, reaching 
10
over 450,000 students; and

 
11
    WHEREAS, Students who participate in The Stock Market Game 
12
Program learn more than investing, they learn core academic 
13
concepts and skills that can help them succeed in the classroom 
14
and in life; and

    WHEREAS, There was a large number of students participating 
16
in the spring session; finishing with a top performing 
17
portfolio is  proof of a winning team; and

 
18
    WHEREAS, The first place team from Wheaton North High 
19
School is made up of students Josh Bennett, Alex Cleveland, 
20
Greg Gornik, Miles Knapp, and Dan Sells; the second place team 
21
is made up of students Lauren Hayes, Letitia Longbons, Eddie

O'Connor, Peter Ross, and Tyler Simmons; the teams are led by

teacher Phyllis Kidd; therefore, be it

    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
4
NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
5
congratulate the Wheaton North High School teams on their 
6
wonderful performances during The Stock Market Game Program; 
7
and be it further

    RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be 
9
presented to Phyllis Kidd and her students as a symbol of our 
10
respect.
