HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate the faculty, staff, and students of Neuqua Valley High School on the occasion of winning the distinguished John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts National Schools of Distinction in Arts Education award; and

WHEREAS, Neuqua Valley High School is well known throughout the Naperville community and beyond for its incredible fine and performing arts departments; more than half of the school's population regularly elects to take coursework in the fine and performing arts; the school also features various band, orchestra, and choir performances, such as the Wind Ensemble, Chamber Orchestra, and Varsity Singers, among many others; and

WHEREAS, Neuqua Valley High School has received recognition by the Grammy Association for its music program; the school was named a Grammy signature school in 1998, 1999, and 2001, a Grammy signature school Gold in 2000, 2003, 2004, and 2009, and a National Grammy Signature school "Best in Nation" in 2005; and

WHEREAS, Neuqua Valley High School was only one of 5 schools, and the only public school in the country, to receive the Kennedy Center award in 2010; and

WHEREAS, The faculty, staff, and students of Neuqua Valley High School serve as models of hard work, integrity, and dedication for the people of the State of Illinois; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the faculty, staff, and students of Neuqua Valley High School on the occasion of the school's victory and wish them continued success and happiness in the future; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Neuqua Valley High School principal Robert McBride Jr. as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
