HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2
    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3
Representatives wish to honor Mr. Nicho Hinojosa, trova 
4
musician, for being a cultural ambassador of Hispanic music, 
5
and to express appreciation for his visit to the Olympic 
6
theater in Cicero; and
  
 
7
    WHEREAS, On February 13, 2010, Mr. Hinojosa will step on 
8
the stage at the Olympic theater to deliver a repertoire of 
9
trova, a music form that combines romantic, vanguard, and Latin 
10
American folk styles to express the feeling of "El Pueblo"; and
  
 
11
    WHEREAS, Mr. Hinojosa began singing at the age of eight; he 
12
was influenced by classic rock bands and started playing drums 
13
in a local ensemble; he emerged as a "multi-instrumentalist" 
14
after attending Monterrey's "Escuela Superior de Musica y 
15
Danza" (School of Superior Education on Music and Dance); and
  
 
16
    WHEREAS, In 1993 he joined a collective music project 
17
called Guitarrs por el Mundo (Guitars Around the World), and 
18
together they released two albums of music; in 1993 he also 
19
debuted as a solo artist with the release of his album "Detras 
20
de Horizonte"; and
  
 
21
    WHEREAS, In June of 2002 he was signed by the Latin

division of BMG records and he released  "En el Bar"; and

    WHEREAS, Mr. Hinojosa has toured in Latin America, Europe, 
3
and the United States; he is considered a pioneer of the new 
4
phase of trova music by his fans, followers, fellow artists, 
5
and lovers of fine cultural expressions; therefore, be it
  
 
6
    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
7
NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
8
honor Mr. Hinojosa and wish him all the best in his future 
9
endeavors; and be it further

    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
11
presented to Nicho Hinojosa as a symbol of our respect and 
12
esteem.
