| 1 | HOUSE RESOLUTION
| ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives are pleased to congratulate Larry McKeon, head | ||||||
| 4 | football coach at Naperville North High School, on his | ||||||
| 5 | retirement and success as a football coach, teacher, and mentor | ||||||
| 6 | throughout the years; and
| ||||||
| 7 | WHEREAS, Larry McKeon was a standout player at Joliet | ||||||
| 8 | Catholic High School and the University of Illinois; he began | ||||||
| 9 | his coaching career at Joliet Catholic as an assistant under | ||||||
| 10 | legendary coach Gordie Gillespie; and
| ||||||
| 11 | WHEREAS, Larry McKeon then moved on from Joliet Catholic to | ||||||
| 12 | a brief yet successful head coaching stint at Plainfield High | ||||||
| 13 | School, winning 30 games in 5 seasons, leaving the program to | ||||||
| 14 | become head coach at Naperville North High School; and
| ||||||
| 15 | WHEREAS, Larry McKeon has been head coach at Naperville | ||||||
| 16 | North High School for 27 years, and in addition to securing | ||||||
| 17 | double-digit victories in 12 seasons under Coach McKeon, the | ||||||
| 18 | Huskies won six DuPage Valley Conference crowns and two State | ||||||
| 19 | titles in 1992 and 2007 during his tenure; and
| ||||||
| 20 | WHEREAS, Naperville North has reached three State title | ||||||
| 21 | games with Coach McKeon, winning the 1992 Class 6A championship | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | with a 21-11 win over Loyola; two years later the Huskies lost | ||||||
| 2 | to Homewood-Flossmoor in the 6A final, and in 2007 they beat | ||||||
| 3 | Glenbard North with a 46-19 victory to claim the Class 8A | ||||||
| 4 | championship; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, In 27 seasons at the helm, Coach McKeon has guided | ||||||
| 6 | the Huskies to a 231-71 record and playoff berths in 22 of the | ||||||
| 7 | last 23 seasons; and
| ||||||
| 8 | WHEREAS, Coach McKeon has coached amazing talent, | ||||||
| 9 | including NFL players Chris Brown, Justin McCareins, and Glenn | ||||||
| 10 | Earl, and, in addition to the NFL talent, Coach McKeon had the | ||||||
| 11 | privilege to coach his son, Corey, who went on to play | ||||||
| 12 | linebacker at Nebraska; and
| ||||||
| 13 | WHEREAS, Being more than just a coach, Larry McKeon has | ||||||
| 14 | shaped the lives of the young players and students as a | ||||||
| 15 | teacher, mentor, and role model both on and off the field; | ||||||
| 16 | therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 17 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
| 18 | NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
| 19 | congratulate Larry McKeon, head football coach at Naperville | ||||||
| 20 | North High School, on his retirement and success as a coach, | ||||||
| 21 | teacher, and mentor; and be it further
| ||||||

| 1 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 2 | presented to Larry McKeon and to the Director of Athletics at | ||||||
| 3 | Naperville North High School as a symbol of our respect and | ||||||
| 4 | esteem.
