HOUSE RESOLUTION

    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3
Representatives are pleased to congratulate the members of the 
4
Mt. Carmel Middle School Junior Lady Aces basketball team for 
5
winning the State championship at the 2010 Southern Illinois 
6
Junior High School Athletic Association (SIJHSAA) Class L State 
7
basketball tournament; and
  
 
8
    WHEREAS, The Junior Lady Aces finished the 2009-2010 season 
9
with an undefeated final record of 24-0; and
  
 
10
    WHEREAS, The Junior Lady Aces were named the Junior North 
11
Egypt Conference champions for the second consecutive year and 
12
the 2010 Marion Tournament Champions; and
  
 
13
    WHEREAS, During the past season, the Junior Lady Aces won 
14
the SIJHSAA Class L Region 8 tournament, advancing to the State 
15
tournament held at Rend Lake College in Ina; and
  
 
16
    WHEREAS, The Junior Lady Aces won the SIJHSAA State girls 
17
basketball championship by defeating Carterville by a score of 
18
63-19 on January 30, 2010; and
  
 
19
    WHEREAS, The members of the Junior Lady Aces basketball 
20
team are Callie Dunkel, Karina Speth, Addy Wallbaum, Tyra Buss,

Reagan Keepes, Alex Rosignol, Whitney Walker, Brandi Metcalf,

Kelsey McGill, Julie Alka, Sydney Peterson, Leah Bunting, and

Emily Emmons; the team's scorekeeper is Kiley Alka; the team's 
4
coaches are Vernon Higginson and Bob Cunningham; therefore, be 
5

    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
7
NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
8
congratulate the Mt. Carmel Middle School Junior Lady Aces 
9
basketball team for becoming the 2010 SIJHSAA Class L girls 
10
basketball champions and wish them continued success and 
11
happiness in the future; and be it further

    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
13
presented to the Mt. Carmel Middle School Junior Lady Aces 
14
basketball team as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
