HOUSE RESOLUTION

    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3
Representatives are pleased to congratulate the members of the 
4
Crystal Lake Babe Ruth Baseball League on the occasion of the 
5
league's 50th anniversary on April 22, 2010; and
  
 
6
    WHEREAS, The Crystal Lake Babe Ruth Baseball League was 
7
chartered on April 22, 1960; the league started with 5 teams 
8
and 75 players and only served 13 to 15-year-old players; and
  
 
9
    WHEREAS, The Crystal Lake Babe Ruth Baseball League's 
10
mission is to both operate a baseball program using competitive 
11
baseball rules and to impart  skills, mental and physical 
12
development, respect for the rules of the game, and the basic 
13
ideals of sportsmanship, fair play, honesty, loyalty, courage, 
14
and reverence to the league's many players; and
 
15
    WHEREAS, In 1982, the Crystal Lake Babe Ruth Baseball 
16
League established the Prep League for 13-year-old players; in 
17
1991, the Senior League was established for 16 to 18-year-old 
18
players; in 1997, the Fall League was established in order to 
19
add additional games after the summer season; in 1999, the 
20
league's Winter Workout Program was established to provide 
21
fundamental instruction to players during the off-season; and

    WHEREAS, In 1993, the Crystal Lake Babe Ruth Baseball 
2
League created a 15-year-old tournament team as an original 
3
host team in the MCYSA/USSSA Summer International Tournament; 
4
the league then created a 14-year-old tournament team in 2001 
5
and a 13-year-old tournament team in 2003; and
  
 
6
    WHEREAS, Today, the Crystal Lake Babe Ruth Baseball League 
7
consists of 56 teams that offer organized, instructional 
8
baseball to over 700 players; and
  
 
9
    WHEREAS, The Crystal Lake Babe Ruth Baseball League serves 
10
as a model of hard work, integrity, and dedication for the 
11
people of the State of Illinois; therefore, be it
  
 
12
    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
13
NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
14
congratulate the members of the Crystal Lake Babe Ruth Baseball 
15
League on the occasion of the league's 50th anniversary and 
16
wish the teams continued success and happiness in the future; 
17
and be it further

    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
19
presented to the Board of Directors of the Crystal Lake Babe 
20
Ruth Baseball League as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
