HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2
    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3
Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Dr. David 
4
Arnold Frier Jr. of Springfield, who passed away on February 
5
27, 2010; and
  
 
6
    WHEREAS, He was  a member of the Illinois Prisoner Review 
7
Board and served under two governors; he was born in Benton in 
8
1931; and
  
 
9
    WHEREAS, He received bachelor's, master's, and doctoral 
10
degrees from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale; he was 
11
a tenured professor at Western Illinois University, where he 
12
taught political science for 20 years; a number of his 
13
students, including  Mary Matalin and Senator Kirk Dillard, went 
14
on to political careers; and
  
 
15
    WHEREAS, He was also a noted antique dealer and collector 
16
and for many years had a shop in Macomb, as well as exhibiting 
17
at shows around the Midwest; he was known for painting Illinois 
18
River duck decoys, which are widely sold at shows across the 
19
United States and on eBay; and

  
 
20
    WHEREAS, Dr. David Frier is survived by his wife, Yasna; 
21
and his six children, Timothy David, Kerry Dee, Randy Ryan,

Bruce Hale, Jennifer Rae, and John David; therefore, be it

    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
3
NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
4
mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of David 
5
Frier Jr.; and be it further
  
 
6
    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
7
presented to the family of Dr. David Frier Jr. as a symbol of 
8
our sincere sympathy.
