HOUSE RESOLUTION

    WHEREAS, The general public as well as  conservation and 
3
constituent organizations strongly support the efforts of the 
4
Illinois Department of Natural Resources to support, enhance, 
5
and protect the natural resources of the State of Illinois, 
6
particularly waterways and recreational water trails 
7
throughout the State; and
  
 
8
    WHEREAS, The Illinois Greenways and Trails Commission was 
9
organized to coordinate and communicate activities with 
10
statewide conservation associations and to promote and protect 
11
the natural resources of this State; and
  
 
12
    WHEREAS, The Illinois Greenways and Trail Commission has 
13
the expertise and experience needed to identify high quality 
14
recreational trails; and

  
 
  
15
    WHEREAS, It is in the best interest of the natural 
16
resources of the State for the Illinois Department of Natural 
17
Resources to work cooperatively with the Illinois Greenways and 
18
Trails Commission; therefore, be it
  
 
19
    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
20
NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
21
urge the Illinois Department of Natural Resources to cooperate

and coordinate with the Illinois Greenways and Trails 
2
Commission in order to develop a model heritage water trail 
3
plan as well as national heritage waterways and other 
4
high-quality recreational waterway trails and recreational 
5
opportunities; and be it further

    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
7
delivered to the Director of Natural Resources and the Governor 
8
of the State of Illinois.
