| HOUSE RESOLUTION
|
| 2 |
| WHEREAS, The Illinois Department on Aging is currently |
| 3 |
| located in two State-owned facilities where it pays no rent; |
| 4 |
| and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, The Department is planning to move to a leased |
| 6 |
| space where it will be paying more than $530,000 per year; and
|
| 7 |
| WHEREAS, The State of Illinois is facing a fiscal year 2011 |
| 8 |
| budget deficit of historic proportions; and
|
| 9 |
| WHEREAS, Many of the facts used to justify these leases are |
| 10 |
| uncertain and have been disputed; therefore, be it
|
| 11 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 12 |
| NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we |
| 13 |
| urge the Departments on Aging and Central Management Services |
| 14 |
| to work with the Procurement Policy Board to review current |
| 15 |
| leases as well as existing space in State facilities to find |
| 16 |
| the solution that imposes the smallest burden on Illinois |
| 17 |
| taxpayers in this time of budget challenge; and be it further
|
| 18 |
| RESOLVED, That the Procurement Policy Board should report |
| 19 |
| to the General Assembly within six weeks of passage of this |
| 20 |
| resolution on the status of the leases.
