HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2
    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3
Representatives are pleased to congratulate Michael S. Kelly of 
4
Boy Scout Troop 273 in Vernon Hills on the occasion of 
5
attaining the rank of Eagle Scout; and
  
 
6
    WHEREAS, To achieve the rank of Eagle Scout, Michael Kelly 
7
built a 14' by 14' paver brick patio for a charter church; he 
8
led his troop through 200 hours of volunteer service to 
9
complete the patio and earned about $1,000 in donations for the 
10
project; he will be honored at Christ Lutheran Church in Vernon 
11
Hills for his work; and
  
 
12
    WHEREAS, Michael Kelly is currently a junior at Vernon 
13
Hills High School; he participates in numerous extracurricular 
14
activities at his school, including volleyball, basketball, 
15
band, orchestra, and jazz band; outside of his school, he 
16
participates in club volleyball, the Fellowship of Christian 
17
Athletes, the Seabase High Adventure Scout camp in the Florida 
18
Keys, and the Scout Venture Crew; he is also a member of the 
19
Music Ministry at his church, St. Mary of Vernon; and
  
 
20
    WHEREAS, Michael Kelly has devoted great amounts of time 
21
and energy to volunteer projects, including Scouting for food, 
22
the St. Mary of Vernon furniture ministry, various junior high

band and volleyball events, and numerous troop Eagle projects; 
2
and
 
3
    WHEREAS, Michael Kelly has been the recipient of numerous 
4
awards and honors for his work in the community, including the 
5
Ad Altare Dei religious emblem of Scouting, 3 #1 rankings in 
6
solo contests, and the Baden-Powell Award from 2004 to 2007; he 
7
has also been a member of the VHHS Music sweepstakes award for 
8
3 years and a member of the Wind Ensemble State Honor band for 
9
2 years; and
  
 
10
    WHEREAS, Michael Kelly has earned numerous Merit Badges for 
11
his work in the Boy Scouts, including the Citizenship in the 
12
Nation, Citizenship in the World, Citizenship in the Community, 
13
Communications, Personal Management, First Aid, Music, 
14
Archery, Wilderness Survival, Motorboating, Lifesaving, Family 
15
Life, Personal Fitness, Rowing, Canoeing, Swimming, Camping, 
16
Environmental Science, Rifle Shooting, Space Exploration, 
17
Fingerprinting, Leatherwork, Orienteering, Water Sports, 
18
Woodcarving, and Metalwork badges; and
  
 
19
    WHEREAS, Michael Kelly's family, including his parents, 
20
Maureen and Bob Kelly, are undoubtedly proud of his 
21
achievements and his willingness to serve his community; 
22

    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
2
NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
3
congratulate Michael S. Kelly on the occasion of attaining the 
4
rank of Eagle Scout and wish him continued success and 
5
happiness in the future; and be it further

    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
7
presented to Michael Kelly as a symbol of our esteem and 
8
respect.
