1 HOUSE RESOLUTION

2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of

3 Representatives are pleased to congratulate Heather Marie

4 McGinley, who is currently dancing with the New York City

5 Martha Graham Dance Company; and

6 WHEREAS, Founded in 1926, the Martha Graham Dance Company

7 is the oldest and most celebrated contemporary dance company in

8 America; and

9 WHEREAS, In 2007 Heather earned a full scholarship in the

10 Martha Graham School of Contemporary Dance and began performing

11 with the Martha Graham Ensemble; Heather graduated with honors

12 from Butler University and holds a BFA in dance performance;

13 she is also an honors graduate of O'Fallon Township High School

14 and St. Clare Catholic School; and

15 WHEREAS, While at Butler University, Heather was featured

16 in works by Thaddius Davis, Susan McGuire, and Marek Cholewa;

17 in 2005 and 2006, she had the privilege of presenting three

18 contemporary pieces of her own choreography as part of a Butler

19 Ballet tour of Eastern Europe, including St Petersburg, Russia,

20 and Warsaw, Poland; and

21 WHEREAS, At the age of nine, Heather started her classical

1 ballet dance studies under Lisbeth Brown at the Dance Station

2 in O'Fallon; in March of 2001, Heather received the Diploma

3 certification from the Cecchetti Council of America; the

4 Diploma level is designed for a student with the goal of a

5 professional dancer, and culminates years of study of the

6 Cecchetti Method of training in classical ballet; therefore, be

7 it

8 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE

9 NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we

10 congratulate Heather Marie McGinley on her many

11 accomplishments and wish her all the best in the future; and be

12 it further

13 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be

14 presented to Heather Marie McGinley as a symbol of our respect

15 and esteem.
