| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
3 |
| Representatives are pleased to congratulate Lee Bagan for being |
4 |
| honored with the "Lee Bagan Endowment Dinner" at the University |
5 |
| of Texas campus in Austin, Texas; and
|
6 |
| WHEREAS, Lee Bagan is a native of Highland Park; in spite |
7 |
| of a reading disability, he was the top student in the |
8 |
| University of Texas Middle Eastern studies undergraduate |
9 |
| program in 2005, earning his bachelor's degree in only 3 years; |
10 |
| he learned Arabic, Persian, Tajiki, and Hebrew as part of his |
11 |
| master's degree in Middle Eastern studies earned from the |
12 |
| University of Texas in 2007; and
|
13 |
| WHEREAS, Lee Bagan currently serves as a Department of |
14 |
| Defense civil service specialist, providing intelligence on |
15 |
| the Iraqi human landscape to Navy SEALs and paratroopers of the |
16 |
| 1st Brigade of the 82nd Airborne Division (the Advise and |
17 |
| Assist Brigade); he formerly served as the principal Middle |
18 |
| East and Central Asia subject-matter expert for Navy SEAL Teams |
19 |
| 7 and 10 and for Marine Corps Regimental Combat Team 8 in |
20 |
| western Iraq; and
|
21 |
| WHEREAS, The first "Lee Bagan Endowment Dinner" was held on |
22 |
| the University of Texas campus in Austin, Texas, to recognize |
