HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2
    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3
Representatives are pleased to congratulate Jerry H. Cizek III 
4
of Glen Ellyn on the occasion of his retirement as president of 
5
the Chicago Automobile Trade Association (CATA); and
  
 
6
    WHEREAS, Jerry Cizek III is a Chicago-area native; he 
7
graduated from Riverside-Brookfield High School and received 
8
his bachelor's degree in business administration from Bradley 
9
University in Peoria; he is an inductee of the Bradley 
10
University Athletic Hall of Fame; and
  
 
11
    WHEREAS, Jerry Cizek III has had a long and distinguished 
12
career in the automotive industry; he began his career in 1968, 
13
when he joined his father and grandfather in their dealership; 
14
he then attended the Chrysler Motors Institute and continued in 
15
the retail automobile business until 1972, when he accepted a 
16
position with the American Motors Corporation; in 1973, he 
17
joined CATA as a field representative; he also served CATA as 
18
the Director of Dealer Relations; and
  
 
19
    WHEREAS, Jerry Cizek III served as president of CATA from 
20
July of 1988 to January of 2010; he also served as the general 
21
manager of the internationally-famous Chicago Auto Show at 
22
McCormick Place; and

    WHEREAS, Jerry Cizek III was a past commissioner, officer, 
2
and president of the Butterfield Park District; he is a past 
3
chairman of the Greater Oak Brook Chamber of Commerce; he is a 
4
past chairman of The Civic Federation and a member of the Past 
5
Chairman's Council; he is a former director of the Park 
6
National Bank & Trust Company and a director of the Chicago 
7
Metropolitan Better Business Bureau, where he was a recipient 
8
of the BBB's coveted Torchbearer Award; he is a member of the 
9
Illinois Secretary of State's Dealer Advisory Board and the 
10
Auto Dealers Advisory Board for the Illinois Attorney General; 
11
he is a past president of the Automotive Trade Association 
12
Executives and is a recipient of the Northwood University 
13
Automotive Trade Association's Executive of the Year award; and
 
14
    WHEREAS, Jerry Cizek III enjoys spending time with his 
15
family, golfing, fishing, and skeet shooting; and
  
 
16
    WHEREAS, Jerry Cizek III and his wife, Cheryl, have 3 
17
children, Stacey, Lauren, and Jerry IV, and 2 grandchildren; 
18
therefore, be it
  
 
19
    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
20
NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
21
we congratulate Jerry H. Cizek III on the occasion of his 
22
retirement and wish him many happy and healthy retirement
