HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2
    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3
Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Daniel 
4
Hanks of Chicago, who passed away on March 16, 2010; and
  
 
5
    WHEREAS, He was born on November 10, 1925; he and his wife, 
6
Portia, were married for 62 years; and
  
 
7
    WHEREAS, He attended McKinley High School in Chicago; he 
8
was a veteran of World War II where he served in the United 
9
States Navy aboard a ship in the South Pacific; and
  
 
10
    WHEREAS, He worked in various positions, including 
11
International Harvester and McCormick Place; he was known for 
12
his "Green Thumb" and received many awards for his garden; he 
13
also received awards from the City of Chicago and local 
14
publications; and
  
 
15
    WHEREAS, His hobbies were gardening and enjoying his 
16
grandchildren; and
 
17
    WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his son, Ronald; and
  
 
18
    WHEREAS, Daniel Hanks is survived by his wife, Portia; and 
19
his son, Reggie and his wife, Ozella; therefore, be it

    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
2
NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
3
mourn, along with his friends and family, the passing of Daniel 
4
Hanks; and be it further
  
 
5
    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
6
presented to the family of Daniel Hanks as a symbol of our 
7
sincere sympathy.
