| HOUSE RESOLUTION
|

| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
3 |
| Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Illinois |
4 |
| State Police Sergeant Susan Voges of Ogden, who passed away on |
5 |
| February 22, 2010; and
|
6 |
| WHEREAS, She was born January 15, 1957, the daughter of |
7 |
| J.C. and Martha Dill; she married Tim Voges on June 19, 1999; |
8 |
| she was raised in Georgetown and was a 1975 graduate of |
9 |
| Georgetown High School; she attended Danville Area Community |
10 |
| College and received her associate's degree from Parkland |
11 |
| College; she received her bachelor's degree from Eastern |
12 |
| Illinois University in 1995; and |
13 |
| WHEREAS, She began a 25-year career with the Illinois State |
14 |
| Police in 1985 and retired on January 31, 2010; during her |
15 |
| career she was promoted to sergeant in 1990 and transferred |
16 |
| from patrol to Zone 5 Investigations in 1999; she was extremely |
17 |
| honored to be a part of the Illinois State Police and cherished |
18 |
| the friends she had made throughout the entire law enforcement |
19 |
| community; and
|
20 |
| WHEREAS, She was a trustee for the Fraternal Order of |
21 |
| Police, Troopers Lodge 41; as a trustee, she was responsible |
22 |
| for employee/management relations and contractual issues; and
|
|

| WHEREAS, She was diagnosed in 1999 with breast cancer and |
2 |
| for almost 11 years continued the battle while at the same time |
3 |
| never letting the disease take her caring spirit; she was the |
4 |
| compassionate voice and a loved role model for many people |
5 |
| suffering from the disease; her positive, life loving attitude |
6 |
| gave strength to others who were battling cancer; and |
7 |
| WHEREAS, One of the important things that she wanted to |
8 |
| accomplish was to be part of the Mills Breast Cancer Institute |
9 |
| and to be part of a "bigger picture" when it came to sponsoring |
10 |
| a room in the new facility; her aim was to improve the |
11 |
| treatment area where she spent much time; with the help of her |
12 |
| husband Tim, family, and many wonderful friends her dream came |
13 |
| true; and |
14 |
| WHEREAS, Her fund-raising efforts included Cops of Coffee, |
15 |
| Champaign County Area Wide Law Enforcement Golf Outings, and |
16 |
| selling hot pink Hope t-shirts, raising over $130,000; she was |
17 |
| so amazed at the support of so many people and was actively |
18 |
| involved with each fund raiser; she amazed everyone she met |
19 |
| with her love, courage, and spirit and she will never be |
20 |
| forgotten; and
|
21 |
| WHEREAS, She was preceded in death by her parents and three |
22 |
| brothers, James, Jerry, and Joe; and
|
|

| WHEREAS, Sue Voges is survived by her husband, Tim; her |
2 |
| loving brother and sisters, J.C. (Kathy) Dill, Shirley Dill, |
3 |
| Cathy (Larry) Morris, Debbie Dill, and Cheri Colbert; as well |
4 |
| as several loving nephews and nieces; therefore, be it
|
5 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
6 |
| NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we |
7 |
| mourn, along with her family, friends, and the people of the |
8 |
| State of Illinois, the passing of Illinois State Police |
9 |
| Sergeant Susan Voges; and be it further
|
10 |
| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
11 |
| presented to the family of Susan Voges as a symbol of our |
12 |
| sincere sympathy.
