| HOUSE RESOLUTION
|
| 2 |
| WHEREAS, H.R. 693, a bill currently under consideration by |
| 3 |
| Congress, would designate a rail right-of-way as a corridor for |
| 4 |
| inter-suburban commuter rail and other purposes; the bill would |
| 5 |
| also require the U.S. Secretary of Transportation to designate |
| 6 |
| a rail right-of-way as a corridor for inter-suburban commuter |
| 7 |
| rail, provide technical assistance to expedite completion of |
| 8 |
| inter-suburban rail service, and prohibit the increased usage |
| 9 |
| of such a corridor except to increase the availability of |
| 10 |
| inter-suburban commuter rail; and
|
| 11 |
| WHEREAS, The passage of this bill is of utmost importance |
| 12 |
| to the people of the State of Illinois and the nation at large; |
| 13 |
| therefore, be it
|
| 14 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 15 |
| NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we |
| 16 |
| urge Congress to pass H.R. 693; and be it further
|
| 17 |
| RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be |
| 18 |
| presented to the Speaker and Minority Leader of the United |
| 19 |
| States House of Representatives, the Majority and Minority |
| 20 |
| Leader of the United States Senate, and the members of the |
| 21 |
| Illinois congressional delegation.
