| HOUSE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
|
| 3 |
| Representatives are pleased to congratulate Joshua VanAssche |
| 4 |
| of Boy Scout Troop 493 in Schaumburg on the occasion of
|
| 5 |
| attaining the coveted rank of Eagle Scout; and
|
| 6 |
| WHEREAS, Joshua is a member of the Order of the Arrow; he |
| 7 |
| is involved with church and helps with the St. Matthew's |
| 8 |
| Religious Education Program; he is on the freshman lacrosse |
| 9 |
| team and was accepted to the Project Lead the Way Engineering |
| 10 |
| Program at Conant; and
|
| 11 |
| WHEREAS, His friend, Emily, was diagnosed with Hodgkin's |
| 12 |
| Llymphoma in 2008 and became the inspiration for Joshua's Eagle |
| 13 |
| Scout project; he made Emily a fleece blanket in her favorite |
| 14 |
| color; later, after learning about Project Linus, he began |
| 15 |
| making blankets to comfort children who are critically ill, |
| 16 |
| traumatized, or in need; and
|
| 17 |
| WHEREAS, Together with support from local businesses, his |
| 18 |
| church, local schools, his scout troop, the local Cub and Girl |
| 19 |
| Scout organizations, family, friends, and other volunteers, |
| 20 |
| Joshua has made and delivered over 450 blankets, the largest |
| 21 |
| donation that Project Linus has received to date; and
