HOUSE RESOLUTION

    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3
Representatives are pleased to congratulate Dolores "Dolly" A. 
4
Pope of Chicago on the occasion of her 75th birthday 
5
celebration; and
  
 
6
    WHEREAS, Dolly was born on Saturday, April 24, 1935 on the 
7
South Side of Chicago; and
  
 
8
    WHEREAS, Dolly graduated from Bowen High School and worked 
9
as a telephone switchboard operator for AT&T; and
  
 
10
    WHEREAS, Dolly met William "Bill" Pope at the age of 16 
11
who, upon his return from the Korean War, proposed to her on 
12
Christmas Eve outside Bowen High School; and
  
 
13
    WHEREAS, Dolly and Bill were married at St. Patrick's 
14
Church on 95th and Commercial in 1955; and
 
15
    WHEREAS, Dolly is the mother of six children:  Bill, Debbie, 
16
Sue, Joe, Jim, and John; and
 
17
    WHEREAS, Dolly still resides in Hegewisch, where she and 
18
Bill raised all six of their children; and

    WHEREAS, A birthday celebration will be held at the Green 
2
Olive in Chicago's Hegewisch neighborhood on April 24, 2010; 
3
therefore, be it

    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
5
NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
6
congratulate Dolores A. Pope on this occasion and wish her the 
7
best at her birthday celebration; and be it further
  
 
8
    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
9
presented to Dolores A. Pope as a symbol of our respect and 
10
esteem.
