HOUSE RESOLUTION

    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3
Representatives are pleased to congratulate the men and women 
4
of the West Chicago Fire Department as they dedicate their new 
5
stations, #2 and #3 on May 8, 2010; and
  
 
6
    WHEREAS, The West Chicago Fire Department was founded in 
7
1896 as a volunteer fire department; the community was served 
8
by one station until 1967 when a second station was added; in 
9
1980 a third station was built on DuPage Airport property; and
  
 
10
    WHEREAS, The first full-time firefighters were hired in 
11
1972; and
  
 
12
    WHEREAS, A 2007 referendum was approved to construct new 
13
first stations, strategically located to serve the new growth 
14
of the community and to minimize the disruption caused by 
15
increased rail traffic; and
  
 
16
    WHEREAS, In March of 2009 construction began on the two new 
17
fire stations; and
  
 
18
    WHEREAS, On May 8, 2010 new stations #2 and #3 will be 
19
dedicated and ready to serve the community; therefore, be it

    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
2
NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
3
congratulate everyone involved in the opening of the new fire 
4
stations for West Chicago; and be it further
  
 
5
    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
6
presented to the Chief of the West Chicago Fire Department as a 
7
symbol of our respect.
