| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 |
| Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of
Brian |
| 4 |
| Carey, who passed away on March 30, 2010; and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, Brian Carey joined the Homewood Fire Department as |
| 6 |
| a part-time firefighter/paramedic on August 20, 2008; he was |
| 7 |
| hired as a full-time firefighter/paramedic on December 13, |
| 8 |
| 2009; and
|
| 9 |
| WHEREAS, On March 30, 2010, the Homewood Fire Department |
| 10 |
| was dispatched to a report of a structure fire at a |
| 11 |
| single-family residence in Homewood; the first-arriving fire |
| 12 |
| crews found a house with visible smoke and flames and were |
| 13 |
| advised that at least one occupant remained inside the |
| 14 |
| structure; and
|
| 15 |
| WHEREAS, During the rescue attempt, Brian Carey, along with |
| 16 |
| his colleague Karra Kopas, were injured; Brian succumbed to his |
| 17 |
| injuries and passed away while at the hospital; and
|
| 18 |
| WHEREAS, Brian Carey will be remembered fondly by his |
| 19 |
| family, friends, and the citizens of Homewood and the State of |
| 20 |
| Illinois for his incredible courage and selflessness in the |
| 21 |
| face of danger; therefore, be it
