| 1 | HOUSE RESOLUTION
| ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, The KAM Isaiah Israel Congregation has selected | ||||||
| 3 | Samuel D. Golden to receive the Rabbi Hayim Goren Perelmuter | ||||||
| 4 | Memorial Award in recognition of his leadership, dedication, | ||||||
| 5 | and service; and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, After joining the KAM temple in 1950 with his | ||||||
| 7 | wife, Paula Adler, he became the chairman of the KAM Schools | ||||||
| 8 | Committee and a member of the Board; and
| ||||||
| 9 | WHEREAS, He was a principal draftsman of the merger | ||||||
| 10 | agreement, constitution, and by-laws that joined KAM Temple | ||||||
| 11 | with Isaiah Israel; and
| ||||||
| 12 | WHEREAS, He served as president of the congregation for | ||||||
| 13 | three years, during which time he engaged architects to | ||||||
| 14 | complete an addition, including a chapel, community hall, and | ||||||
| 15 | garden; and
| ||||||
| 16 | WHEREAS, Sam, after his tenure as president, continues to | ||||||
| 17 | serve on the Weinstein and Perelmuter memorial committees; and | ||||||
| 18 | WHEREAS, His two sons, Daniel and Jonathan, were Bar | ||||||
| 19 | Mitzvah in the temple and his daughter Miriam was Bat Mitzvah; | ||||||
| 20 | and | ||||||

| 1 | WHEREAS, As a cellist, he has contributed to numerous | ||||||
| 2 | services at the temple; and
| ||||||
| 3 | WHEREAS, Sam has been very active in advocacy for the | ||||||
| 4 | mentally retarded because of his daughter Anne; he has served | ||||||
| 5 | on the board and as a committee chairman for the Voice of the | ||||||
| 6 | Retarded, a national advocacy organization supporting choice | ||||||
| 7 | in residential arrangements for the mentally retarded; | ||||||
| 8 | therefore, be it

| 9 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
| 10 | NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
| 11 | congratulate Samuel D. Golden on being chosen as the KAM Isaiah | ||||||
| 12 | Israel Congregation's recipient of the Rabbi Hayim Goren | ||||||
| 13 | Perelmuter Memorial Award, and we applaud his lifetime of | ||||||
| 14 | service and dedication to his congregation; and be it further
| ||||||
| 15 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 16 | presented to Samuel D. Golden and KAM Isaiah Israel as an | ||||||
| 17 | expression of our respect and esteem.
