HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2
    WHEREAS, The Women's Bar Association of Illinois has been 
3
advocating for the advancement of women and women attorneys for 
4
nearly a century; and
  
 
5
    WHEREAS, The mission of the Women's Bar Association of 
6
Illinois has been to promote and foster, advance and protect 
7
the interests and welfare of women lawyers; to encourage a 
8
spirit of friendship and mutual helpfulness among its members; 
9
to aid in the enactment of legislation for the common good and 
10
the administration of justice; and to promote and protect the 
11
interests and rights of women; and
  
 
12
    WHEREAS, The Women's Bar Association of Illinois will 
13
install its incoming officers and directors at its 96th Annual 
14
Dinner on June 3, 2010; and
  
 
15
    WHEREAS, Kathryn Gallanis Matern, an attorney at the law 
16
firm of Bruce Farrel Dorn and Associates in Chicago, will be 
17
installed as president during this celebrated event, 
18
succeeding the outgoing president, the Honorable Patrice Ball 
19
Reed, associate judge of the Circuit Court of Cook County; and
  
 
20
    WHEREAS, Kathryn Gallanis Matern is a former Assistant 
21
State's Attorney in the Cook County Felony Trial Division; she

is the First Vice President of the Chicago Republican Women's 
2
Network and also is an active volunteer in various other 
3
charitable and civic organizations including the Junior League 
4
of Chicago, the New Trier Citizen's League, and the New Trier 
5
Republican Women's Club; and
  
 
6
    WHEREAS, Throughout her distinguished career, Kathryn 
7
Gallanis Matern has received numerous awards and accolades, 
8
including being recognized in 2001 in Today's Chicago Woman 
9
magazine's "100 Women Making A Difference"; therefore, be it
  
 
10
    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
11
NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
12
congratulate Kathryn Gallanis Matern and the Women's Bar 
13
Association of Illinois and extend our best wishes for their 
14
future success; and be it further

    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
16
presented to Kathryn Gallanis Matern as a symbol of our respect 
17
and esteem.
