HOUSE RESOLUTION

    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3
Representatives are pleased to congratulate the members of the 
4
Crest Hill Women's Civic League on the occasion of the 
5
organization's 50th anniversary and honors them for their many 
6
years of service to their community; and
  
 
7
    WHEREAS, The Crest Hill Women's Civic League was founded in 
8
the City of Crest Hill on March 31, 1960 to promote political 
9
responsibility through informed and active participation of 
10
citizens of local government; and
  
 
11
    WHEREAS, The Crest Hill Women's Civic League has served the 
12
citizens of the City of Crest Hill and the State of Illinois 
13
for 50 years; in 2010, the organization has 30 active members, 
14
including  founding member Kay Thomas; and
  
 
15
    WHEREAS, The Crest Hill Women's Civic League has made 
16
contributions to the City of Crest Hill, including the purchase 
17
of a lot in the Richland subdivision to aid in the formation of 
18
the city and the purchase of the City's first ambulance; the 
19
organization has hosted numerous dances to promote 
20
socialization among citizens and raise funds for municipal 
21
improvements; the organization has conducted numerous 
22
candidate meetings in order to keep the residents of Crest Hill

and the State of Illinois well-informed; the organization 
2
spearheaded the efforts to bring a library building and 
3
services to Crest Hill and to furnish equipment and furniture 
4
to the library's Community Room; the organization also 
5
spearheaded efforts to provide regular maintenance service for 
6
the Lidice Memorial and coordinated the memorial's 25th 
7
anniversary celebration; and
  
 
8
    WHEREAS, The Crest Hill Women's Civic League continues to 
9
be a viable organization in 2010 through its recognition of 
10
student achievement and by promoting good citizenship among the 
11
citizens of Crest Hill; therefore, be it
  
 
12
    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
13
NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
14
congratulate the members of the Crest Hill Women's Civic League 
15
on the occasion of the organization's 50th anniversary and wish 
16
them continued success and happiness in the future; and be it 
17
further

    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
19
presented to the Crest Hill Women's Civic League as a symbol of 
20
our esteem and respect.
