HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate Florence Ostdick of Elgin on receiving the Altrusa International Club of Elgin, Inc., Woman of the Year 2010 Award; and

WHEREAS, Florence Ostdick exemplifies the Altrusa keys of Amity, Loyalty, Talent, Reciprocity, Unity, Service, and Achievement; and

WHEREAS, Florence Ostdick served as a teacher for many years in the Bartlett Schools, the YMCA, and U-46; during her time as an educator she spearheaded the Young Authors program, produced musicals and other school productions through the gifted department, and set an example for her children, who are also teachers; and

WHEREAS, She devoted years of volunteer service to St. Laurence Parish in Elgin as a religious education instructor, the Altar and Rosary/Liturgy Chairperson, the Parish Liturgy Chairperson, a Parish Council member, Education Commission member, Chairperson of the annual holiday bazaar, Eucharistic minister, and lector; in addition she worked with the R.C.I.A. program and hosted a Marriage Encounter community in her home; and

WHEREAS, She presently serves on the Liturgy Committee and Environment Committee at St. Thomas More Church in Elgin; she is also involved with the Fox Valley Beaux Arts program, including a two-term tenure as the President; and

WHEREAS, She will receive the award on May 20, 2010 at the 61st Annual Woman of the Year Recognition Dinner; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Florence Ostdick and wish her all the best in her future endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Florence Ostdick as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
