HOUSE RESOLUTION

    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3
Representatives are pleased to congratulate the members of the 
4
Hillcrest Hawks High School girls basketball team for being the 
5
runner-up in the IHSA Class 3A State basketball tournament; and
  
 
6
    WHEREAS, The Hillcrest Hawks High School girls basketball 
7
team is known for their great defense and commitment to playing 
8
as a team; the team's 2nd place finish is the best ever for a 
9
girls' team at Hillcrest High School; and
  
 
10
    WHEREAS, Hillcrest Hawks Head Varsity Coach John Maniatis 
11
has coached for 16 years with a record of 386 wins and 82 
12
losses; he has been named the Coach of the Year by the Illinois 
13
Basketball Coaches Association 7 times; he and his staff have 
14
led the Hawks to an Elite Eight berth and a Class 3A State 
15
runner-up finish for the last 2 seasons; and
  
 
16
    WHEREAS, The members of the Hillcrest Hawks High School 
17
girls basketball team are Samirah Ali, Sharolyn Wiggins, 
18
Jasmine Sanders, Althea Burke, Jacquenae Foster, Dana Gettis, 
19
Shannise Heady, Kristin Marshall, Mia Jones, Uniquah Hampton, 
20
Yolanda De La Torre, and Autris Colema; the team's assistant 
21
coaches are Rachel Binole, Joe Kintz, Dave Klupchak, Bob 
22
Reiser, and Rick Tustin; the school's superintendent is Bill

Kendall, the principal is Renee Simms, and the athletic

director is Lisa Wunar; and

    WHEREAS, The members of the Hillcrest Hawks High School 
4
girls basketball team serves as models of hard work, integrity, 
5
and dedication for the people of the State of Illinois;

therefore, be it

    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
8
NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
9
congratulate the members of the Hillcrest Hawks High School 
10
girls basketball team for being the runner-up in the IHSA Class 
11
3A State basketball tournament and wish them continued success 
12
and happiness in the future; and be it further

    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
14
presented to Hillcrest Hawks Head Varsity Coach John Maniatis 
15
as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
