| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |

| Representatives are pleased to congratulate Dr. Barbara J. |
| 4 |
| Howery on all her accomplishments while serving as |
| 5 |
| Superintendent of Pembroke School District 259; and
|
| 6 |
| WHEREAS, Her many accomplishments include: a new gymnasium |
| 7 |
| floor;
the Lorenzo R. Smith Broadcasting Studio;
the Hopkins |
| 8 |
| Park/Pembroke Theatre;
an archaeology lab;
a new fitness |
| 9 |
| center;
the Illinois Steps Ahead College/Career Preparatory |
| 10 |
| Program;
and the Parent Academy Mobile;
and
|
| 11 |
| WHEREAS, The students under her tenure as superintendent |
| 12 |
| showed improvement on Illinois Student Achievement scores;
the |
| 13 |
| schools received 2009 Illinois Honor Roll School recognition;
|
| 14 |
| various grants for school operation were awarded;
all cafeteria |
| 15 |
| table seating and major appliances were upgraded;
new gymnasium |
| 16 |
| lights and a sound system were installed;
and the Pembroke |
| 17 |
| School District website was developed; and
|
| 18 |
| WHEREAS, Dr. Howery began her tenure with the district in |
| 19 |
| 2002; therefore, be it
