HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate Father Louis Busemeyer, S.J., of St. Rita of Cascia Church in Aurora, on his 40th year of ministry as a priest; and

WHEREAS, Father Busemeyer is the Parochial Vicar at St. Rita of Cascia Church, Aurora and will celebrate this anniversary on June 11, 2010; and

WHEREAS, Father Busemeyer was a young seminarian at Bellarmine when it was located in North Aurora; he was ordained in 1970 at St. Joseph's Church in Aurora, by then Bishop Arthur J. O'Neill; and

WHEREAS, His provincial house later moved to Chicago and he remained there as teacher for many years until he was invited back to the Aurora area to teach at Aurora Central Catholic High School and assist the pastor of St. Rita of Cascia Church on Old Indian Trail in Aurora; and

WHEREAS, For the 10 years that he has been assigned to St. Rita's Church, he has assisted the spiritual leadership of the parish as well as taking on administrative duties on several occasions, including pastoral sabbaticals and transitional times such as when Monsignor Willhite retired and the parish was waiting on the appointment of a new pastor; and

WHEREAS, Father Busemeyer has received the St. George Award in Scouting; he was a member of Troop 53 at St. Rita of Cascia Church and supported the Catholic Committee on Scouting and Religious Awards for Scouts; he is an avid outdoorsman; along with Sr. Mary Catherine Martini at Aurora Central, he helped guide groups of young people by canoe through the boundary waters between Canada and the United States yearly; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Father Busemeyer and wish him continued success in his ministry; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Father Louis Busemeyer, S.J., as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
