| HOUSE RESOLUTION
|

| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
3 |
| Representatives are pleased to congratulate Laurie Stone on the |
4 |
| occasion of her retirement as President of the Schaumburg |
5 |
| Business Association (SBA) and thank her for her many years of |
6 |
| service to her community; and
|
7 |
| WHEREAS, Laurie Stone was recruited from the Greater O'Hare |
8 |
| Association to the fledgling Schaumburg Business Association |
9 |
| during the dark days of September 2001; she has since helped |
10 |
| the SBA to new heights and popularity and resiliency, even |
11 |
| during the tough economic times experienced in the last decade; |
12 |
| and
|
13 |
| WHEREAS, During her tenure at the SBA, Laurie Stone created |
14 |
| a variety of ways for businesses to network and form |
15 |
| connections; she also worked directly on improving the climate |
16 |
| for business by having the SBA lobby for better state finances; |
17 |
| and
|
18 |
| WHEREAS, Prior to her service with the Greater O'Hare |
19 |
| Association, Laurie Stone served as marketing director of the |
20 |
| Northwest Suburban Alliance for Commerce and Industry in |
21 |
| Schaumburg for 5 years; and
|
|

| WHEREAS, Laurie Stone worked for Alexian Brothers Medical |
2 |
| Systems from May 2003 to April 2004; she also chaired a |
3 |
| committee consisting of representatives of Alexian Brothers |
4 |
| Hospital and Northwest Community Hospital to create a clinic in |
5 |
| Mt. Prospect for the medically underserved; and |
6 |
| WHEREAS, Laurie Stone served as the executive director of |
7 |
| NIBPAC, a political action committee operated jointed by 12 |
8 |
| chambers of commerce; she served on the Village of Schaumburg's |
9 |
| 50th Anniversary Committee; she also represented Elk Grove |
10 |
| Village as a member of the Convention Center Authority and |
11 |
| served on the Elk Grove Village Industrial Park Revitalization |
12 |
| Committee; and
|
13 |
| WHEREAS, Laurie Stone has served as a Trustee of the Harper |
14 |
| College Board since 2001; and
|
15 |
| WHEREAS, Laurie Stone is the loving mother of 4 children |
16 |
| and the adoring grandmother of 8 grandchildren; and
|
17 |
| WHEREAS, Laurie Stone was the writer and producer of "Sixty |
18 |
| Ideas in Sixty Minutes", a film shown to Chamber of Commerce |
19 |
| Membership Directors at their national convention; and |
20 |
| WHEREAS, The Schaumburg Business Association will honor |
21 |
| Laurie Stone and her many years of dedicated service with a |

| retirement party at the Chicago Marriott Schaumburg on May 26, |
2 |
| 2010; therefore, be it
|

| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
4 |
| NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we |
5 |
| congratulate Laurie Stone on the occasion of her retirement, |
6 |
| thank her for her many years of service to her community, and |
7 |
| wish her many happy and healthy retirement years; and be it |
8 |
| further
|
9 |
| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
10 |
| presented to Laurie Stone as a symbol of our esteem and |
11 |
| respect.
