HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2
    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3
Representatives are pleased to congratulate Thomas E. Squires 
4
of Boy Scout Troop 297 of Hoffman Estates  on the occasion of 
5
attaining the coveted rank of Eagle Scout; and
  
 
6
    WHEREAS, Scouting has been a part of his life since 1999 
7
when he joined Cub Scout Pack 396 in Schaumburg; he earned the 
8
Arrow of Light Award in November of 2003; and in February of 
9
2004 he joined Boy Scout Troop 297; and
  
 
10
    WHEREAS, His Eagle Scout project benefited Christian Youth 
11
Theatre, an after-school theater based program for children 
12
from 8 to 18, operating out of Northwest Cook, Kane, McHenry, 
13
Lake, and DuPage Counties, and the Aurora and Rockford areas; 
14
and
  
 
15
    WHEREAS, His project consisted of landscaping the main 
16
office in Cary; the old and overgrown landscaping was replaced 
17
with a new and aesthetically pleasing design that is easier for 
18
the staff to maintain; and
  
 
19
    WHEREAS, Thomas has held leadership positions in his Troop, 
20
attended Camp Napawon, and participated in the 2005 National 
21
Scout Jamboree; he has received many awards in scouting,

including the Lamp of Learning Award, and is a Brotherhood 
2
Member of the Order of the Arrow; and
  
 
3
    WHEREAS, Thomas E. Squires serves as a model of hard work, 
4
integrity, and dedication for the people of the State of 
5
Illinois; therefore, be it
  
 
6
    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
7
NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
8
congratulate Thomas E. Squires and wish him the best in his 
9
future endeavors; and be it further
  
 
10
    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
11
presented to Thomas E. Squires as a symbol of our respect and 
12
esteem.
