| 1 | HOUSE RESOLUTION

| 2 | WHEREAS, State Representative Sara Feigenholtz and the | ||||||
| 3 | Illinois House of Representatives are saddened to learn of the | ||||||
| 4 | death of Renee Snow, who passed away on May 19, 2010; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Renee Snow, nee Rosen, was born on November 18, | ||||||
| 6 | 1934 in Chicago, the youngest of two daughters born to Jack and | ||||||
| 7 | Ida Rosen; she grew up in Chicago, she attended and graduated | ||||||
| 8 | from Marshall High School in 1952 as a member of the National | ||||||
| 9 | Honor Society; and she received her Bachelor of Arts degree | ||||||
| 10 | from Roosevelt University in Chicago in 1956; and
| ||||||
| 11 | WHEREAS, Renee Snow received her Teachers' Certificate | ||||||
| 12 | from the City of Chicago in 1956, traveled to and taught in | ||||||
| 13 | Japan in 1959-60, obtained her Master of Arts degree from | ||||||
| 14 | DePaul University in 1965, and later earned a certificate to | ||||||
| 15 | teach children with learning disabilities in the Chicago Public | ||||||
| 16 | Schools; she was a devoted teacher of children with special | ||||||
| 17 | needs at Nettlehorst School for many years where she earned the | ||||||
| 18 | respect and admiration of her fellow teachers, administrators, | ||||||
| 19 | students, and parents; and
| ||||||
| 20 | WHEREAS, Renee Snow met Nate Snow during a political | ||||||
| 21 | campaign in 1964, they married on November 25, 1967, and shared | ||||||
| 22 | a passion for social justice, music, and travel and an absolute | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | devotion to each other while residing in the Lakeview community | ||||||
| 2 | of Chicago together for over 30 years; and
| ||||||
| 3 | WHEREAS, Renee Snow was a person of intellectual curiosity, | ||||||
| 4 | uncompromising integrity, and deep convictions, demonstrated | ||||||
| 5 | by her active participation on the boards of many community | ||||||
| 6 | organizations, most notably the Jane Addams Senior Caucus and | ||||||
| 7 | the Counseling Center of Lakeview; her dedication to spend her | ||||||
| 8 | entire life working to improve and enrich the lives of others | ||||||
| 9 | is an inspiration and role model for all; and
| ||||||
| 10 | WHEREAS, Renee Snow faced her multiple health problems and | ||||||
| 11 | those of her late husband Nate with optimism, grace, curiosity, | ||||||
| 12 | and a sense of humor; and
| ||||||
| 13 | WHEREAS, Renee Snow is survived by her dear sister and best | ||||||
| 14 | friend, Elaine Murphy; her many nieces and nephews, including: | ||||||
| 15 | Leslie Murphy, Donna Wittert, Sandy Brooks, and Robin Smith; | ||||||
| 16 | her dear cousins; and her many friends from the Jane Addams | ||||||
| 17 | Senior Caucus, Nettlehorst School, her condominium building, | ||||||
| 18 | the Darien, and the community at-large; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 19 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
| 20 | NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
| 21 | mourn, along with her family and friends, the passing of Renee | ||||||
| 22 | Snow; and be it further

| 1 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 2 | presented to the family of Renee Snow as an expression of our | ||||||
| 3 | sympathy.
