| HOUSE RESOLUTION
|
| 2 |
| WHEREAS, The U.S. Navy, U.S. Marine Corps, U.S. Coast |
| 3 |
| Guard, and U.S. Merchant Marine all contribute to America's |
| 4 |
| defense and freedom of the seas through the patriotism, |
| 5 |
| loyalty, efficiency, and devotion to duty of its men and women; |
| 6 |
| and
|
| 7 |
| WHEREAS, The Glenview Council of the Navy League supports |
| 8 |
| the sea services' efforts to keep the seas open and foster |
| 9 |
| goodwill and trade among the people of the world; and
|
| 10 |
| WHEREAS, The Council seeks to support these efforts by |
| 11 |
| advancing a better understanding of the importance of the |
| 12 |
| nation's preeminence on the high seas; and
|
| 13 |
| WHEREAS, This understanding is enhanced through the |
| 14 |
| Council's promotion of the belief that the sea services should |
| 15 |
| be provided with the best ships and equipment and that |
| 16 |
| qualified young people should be attracted to the sea services |
| 17 |
| through the Sea Cadet program; and
|
| 18 |
| WHEREAS, The week of June 7-13, 2010 marks the 50th |
| 19 |
| anniversary of the Council's founding and its continuing effort |
| 20 |
| to advance the goals of the sea services in preserving freedom |
| 21 |
| of the seas; therefore, be it
