HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2
    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3
Representatives are pleased to congratulate James J. Rupert, 
4
Principal of North Elementary School in Nokomis and Nokomis 
5
Junior High School, on his retirement; and
  
 
6
    WHEREAS, He was born and raised in Litchfield; he attended 
7
Southern Illinois University and the University of Illinois; 
8
and
  
 
9
    WHEREAS, He began teaching in 1966 in Litchfield; in July 
10
of 1972, he became the principal of North Elementary School in 
11
Nokomis; and
  
 
12
    WHEREAS, In 2004, he became principal of Nokomis Junior 
13
High School while remaining principal of the elementary school; 
14
and
  
 
15
    WHEREAS, Among the numerous educational awards he received 
16
during  his 40 years in  education are the National Distinguished 
17
Elementary School Principal of the Year Award, the Friends of 
18
the Illinois Principals Association, and the Bright Star Award; 
19
he has twice received the State Academic Award; he received the 
20
Herman Graves Award from region 5 this year and is being 
21
considered for the same award on a national level; and

    WHEREAS, His wife, Judy, is a retired teacher; they have 
2
two children, David and Andrea; therefore, be it
  
 
3
    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
4
NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
5
congratulate James J. Rupert and wish him the best in his 
6
future endeavors; and be it further
  
 
7
    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
8
presented to James J. Rupert as a symbol of our respect and 
9
esteem.
