HOUSE RESOLUTION

    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3
Representatives are pleased to congratulate Gertrude and 
4
Casimir Skiba on the occasion of the couple's 60th wedding 
5
anniversary on April 28, 2010; and
  
 
6
    WHEREAS, Gert and Casey Skiba are life-long residents of 
7
Chicago's Northwest Side; Casey, after serving in the U.S. Navy 
8
during World War II, met Gert while the pair worked at the 
9
Rauland Corporation; the couple was married in the Marian 
10
Chapel of Our Lady of Victory Church  on April 28, 1950; they 
11
then raised a family in the Jefferson Park neighborhood in 
12
Chicago; and
  
 
13
    WHEREAS, Casey Skiba attended grammar school at St. James 
14
Parish; he then attended Holy Trinity High School; he is a 
15
member of the LaSalle Assembly, the Knights of Columbus, and 
16
the Holy Name Society; he is also a die-hard Chicago Cubs fan; 
17
and
  
 
18
    WHEREAS, Gert Skiba attended grammar school at Our Lady of 
19
Victory Parish; she then attended St. Constance High School; 
20
she enjoys crafts, knitting, crocheting, playing cards, and 
21
taking bus and train trips; and

    WHEREAS, Gert and Casey Skiba celebrated their 60th 
2
anniversary with their children, Kathleen, Geraldine, and 
3
Timothy, and their grandchildren, Brian, Erin, Rebecca, Keith, 
4
Heather, Matthew, Sarah, Amanda, and Scott, at the Our Lady of 
5
Victory Church; therefore, be it
  
 
6
    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
7
NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
  
8
congratulate Gertrude and Casimir Skiba on the occasion of 
9
their
 60th wedding anniversary, commend them for
  achieving a 
10
long and happy marriage, and wish them happiness and good 
11
health in the future; and be it further
  
 
12
    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
13
presented to Gert and Casey Skiba as a symbol of our esteem and 
14
respect.
