HOUSE RESOLUTION

    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of  
3
Representatives wish to congratulate Lee DeWyze as the winner 
4
of the ninth season of the reality television singing 
5
competition American Idol; and
  
 
6
    WHEREAS, Lee DeWyze was born on April 2, 1986 in Mount 
7
Prospect; he attended St. James Catholic Elementary School in 
8
Arlington Heights, Prospect High, and Forest View Alternative 
9
School; and
  
 
10
    WHEREAS, Lee DeWyze began singing at an early age; he later 
11
formed the Lee DeWyze Band, which recorded two albums for WuLi 
12
Records; and
  
 
13
    WHEREAS, Lee DeWyze auditioned for American Idol at 
14
Chicago's United Center in June of 2009; he was one of only 13 
15
singers from the Chicago auditions to advance to the next round 
16
of competition; and
  
 
17
    WHEREAS, Lee DeWyze received praise from a multitude of 
18
music industry talents and executives for his performances 
19
throughout American Idol; and
 
20
    WHEREAS, Lee DeWyze was named the winner of the 9th season

of American Idol by garnering the highest number of viewer 
2
votes; and

    WHEREAS, The State of Illinois was proud to welcome Lee 
4
DeWyze back to the Chicago area as part of his American Idol 
5
Homecoming Day; he was honored with a parade in his hometown of 
6
Mount Prospect, performed at Arlington Park, and threw out the 
7
first pitch at Wrigley Field; therefore, be it

    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
9
NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
10
congratulate Lee DeWyze for being named the winner of the 9th 
11
season of American Idol and wish him continued success in his 
12
musical career; and be it further
  
 
13
    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
14
presented to Lee DeWyze as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
