HOUSE RESOLUTION

    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3
Representatives are pleased to congratulate the Goreville 
4
Blackcats High School Boys Baseball team on winning second 
5
place at the Class 1A State Tournament, held on June 5, 2010 in 
6
Joliet; and
  
 
7
    WHEREAS, Goreville High School was well-represented at the 
8
Class 1A State tournament; many of the team's fans and family 
9
members made the five-hour drive to support the team through 
10
their second-place finish; and
  
 
11
    WHEREAS, The Blackcats beat Tri-Valley, 4-3, in the June 4, 
12
2010 semifinal game and fell 15-5 to Westminster Christian in 
13
the championship game on June 5, 2010; this season marks the 
14
first time the team has advanced beyond its sectional 
15
tournament; and
  
 
16
    WHEREAS, The Coach of the Blackcats is Shawn Tripp; the 
17
Athletic Director is Todd Tripp; and
  
 
  
18
    WHEREAS, The team was welcomed by their hometown fans as 
19
they returned on June 6 with their second place trophy; 
20
therefore, be it

    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
2
NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
3
congratulate the Goreville Blackcats baseball team on their 
4
second place win and wish them continued success; and be it 
5
further

    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
7
presented to the Goreville High School Boys Baseball team as a 
8
symbol of our respect and esteem.
