HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The personal prosperity of Illinois citizens and 
3the economic security of our nation will require uniting our 
4workforce development, education, and economic development 
5strategies in a common effort to provide our citizens with 
6higher skills and supply our businesses with qualified workers; 
7and
  
 
8    WHEREAS, The economic security of Illinois citizens will 
9enhance the quality and productivity of people and businesses 
10and provide effective economic development strategies for the 
11workforce needs of the future; and
  
 
12    WHEREAS, The Illinois Local Workforce System and One-Stop 
13Centers must be able to offer more programs and services to a 
14wider customer base; and
  
 
15    WHEREAS, The Illinois Workforce Development System must 
16continue to recognize the value of local decision making, which 
17is key to the success of the future workforce; and
  
 
18    WHEREAS, The local workforce investment boards, which are 
19comprised of a majority of business leaders and who have worked 
20effectively in partnership with chief elected officials, 
21should continue to be the cornerstone of the Workforce

2    WHEREAS, The One-Stop System must have sufficient 
3resources to offer comprehensive services, universal access, 
4and lifelong learning options for both business and 
5individuals; therefore, be it
  
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
7NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
8recognize the importance of workforce development and 
9designate the week of August 30, 2010, as "Workforce 
10Development Week" in the State of Illinois to showcase the 
11Illinois workforce system.
