HOUSE RESOLUTION


 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives are pleased to honor "A Place For Me" Autism 
4Learning Center in Chicago on the occasion of their third 
5annual dinner for autism awareness, on October 23, 2010; and

 
6    WHEREAS, "A Place For Me" was founded by Elaine 
7Reeves-Haywood in June of 2002 to provide the tools, programs, 
8and services that her son and other children with autism could 
9use and benefit from; and

 
10    WHEREAS, The mission of "A Place For Me" is "to provide 
11service to families and support for the children affected by 
12autism"; their hope is to "provide support for ongoing 
13parent/child issues, voice concerns for autism related issues, 
14be available as a community resource, provide training and 
15support on various autism related topics, provide educational 
16assistance to regular and special education students", and many 
17other services; and

 
18    WHEREAS, "A Place For Me" also raises community awareness 
19about autism and sponsors family outings; and

 

20    WHEREAS, The long range goal of "A Place For Me" is to 
21provide a community center for after school programs, social

1skill programs, and a place for workshops for parents; 
2therefore, be it

 
3    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
4NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
5honor "A Place For Me" for their hard work and dedication to 
6helping children with autism and their families; and be it 
7further

 
8    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
9presented to Elaine Reeves-Haywood as a symbol of our respect 
10and esteem.
