HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, Judy Tucker was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on September 1, 1943; while raising her children, Judy attended Victor Business School in Evergreen Park; after graduation, Judy became affiliated with the WIN Program (Work Initiative Program) where she acquired employment as an Intern with the United States House of Representatives, the Honorable Congressman Ralph Metcalfe Sr.; and

WHEREAS, After the one year completion of the internship through WIN, and the culmination of her internship with the United States House of Representatives, Congressman Metcalfe wrote the director of WIN regarding Judy; his letter resulted in her employment as the Executive Secretary to Committeeman Metcalfe Sr. in the Third Ward Regular Democratic Organization from 1972 to 1975; she also served as the U.S. Congressional Aide to Congressman Metcalfe from 1976 until his death in October 1978; and

WHEREAS, Continuing the legacy, she served as Executive Secretary/Office Manager to Ralph Metcalfe Jr., candidate for Alderman of the Third Ward Regular Democratic Organization from 1978 to 1980; she worked for the City of Chicago Commission on Human Relations from 1980 to 1982; she worked for Alderman Tyrone Kenner as the Secretary of Public Utilities from 1982 to 1983 and the Secretary of Committee on Finance from 1983 to 1985; and

WHEREAS, Alderman Bobby Rush recommended Judy for the position of Office Manager to Commissioner Jerry Butler during Butler's successfully candidacy for Cook County Commissioner from 1985 to 1986; Alderman Rush extended an offer to her to serve as his Executive Secretary in the Second Ward Regular Democratic Organization in 1986; since his elevation to U.S Congressman of the First Congressional District in 1992, she has held several key positions under him, most notably in her current position as the Director of Constituent Services; and

WHEREAS, In the role of Director of Constituent Services, she has successfully developed valuable working relationships with many constituents both on the governmental and main street levels and has proven to be a great asset in this role; during her 38-year career she has had the pleasure of working for Congressman Rush for 24 years; and

WHEREAS, Judy has been married to Elishious Tucker for 38 years and they reside in Chicago; she is a faithful member of the Miracle House of Prayer Church in Chicago, under the leadership of Pastor Dwight Craig; and

WHEREAS, Judy is an outstanding cook, an immaculate homemaker, and enjoys gardening; she is a pillar in the community and has very strong family values and is very passionate about her family, friends, colleagues, and acquaintances; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Judy Tucker on her long and exciting career and wish her the best in all her future endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Judy Tucker as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
