HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives are pleased to congratulate the Streamwood 
4Park District on the occasion of the addition of the Hoosier 
5Grove Schoolhouse Museum to the Country School Association of 
6America's national historic register; and
  
 
7    WHEREAS, The rich history of the Hoosier Grove Schoolhouse 
8Museum began in 1904, when local farmers in the Hanover 
9Township area got together with a carpenter from Bartlett to 
10build a one-room schoolhouse for their children; thanks in part 
11to the donation of an acre of land from a local farmer, the 
12schoolhouse was completed in the summer of 1904; due to the 
13school's location between Hanover and Schaumburg Townships, 
14the school was deemed to be in School District 43 1/2; about 20 
15kids attended school there every year from grades 1 through 8 
16between 1904 and 1954, when the school closed; the school moved 
17to its present location at 700 West Irving Park Road in 
18Streamwood in 1988; and

  
 
19    WHEREAS, Thanks to the diligent efforts of Rich Janiec, 
20Paula Lambertz, and numerous other members of the Streamwood 
21Historical Society, the Hoosier Grove Schoolhouse Museum was 
22one of only 8 schools in the nation to be added to the Country 
23School Association of America's national historic register

1this year and one of only 18 total schools on the list; and
  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Streamwood Historical Society 
3serve as models of hard work, integrity, and dedication for the 
4people of the State of Illinois; therefore, be it
  
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
6NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
7to congratulate the Streamwood Historical Society on the 
8occasion of the addition of the Hoosier Grove Schoolhouse 
9Museum to the Country School Association of America's national 
10historic register and wish them continued success and happiness 
11in the future; and be it further
  
 
12    RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be 
13presented to Rich Janiec and Paula Lambertz as a symbol of our 
14esteem and respect.
