| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives are pleased to congratulate the Streamwood |
| 4 | | Park District on the occasion of the addition of the Hoosier |
| 5 | | Grove Schoolhouse Museum to the Country School Association of |
| 6 | | America's national historic register; and
|
| 7 | | WHEREAS, The rich history of the Hoosier Grove Schoolhouse |
| 8 | | Museum began in 1904, when local farmers in the Hanover |
| 9 | | Township area got together with a carpenter from Bartlett to |
| 10 | | build a one-room schoolhouse for their children; thanks in part |
| 11 | | to the donation of an acre of land from a local farmer, the |
| 12 | | schoolhouse was completed in the summer of 1904; due to the |
| 13 | | school's location between Hanover and Schaumburg Townships, |
| 14 | | the school was deemed to be in School District 43 1/2; about 20 |
| 15 | | kids attended school there every year from grades 1 through 8 |
| 16 | | between 1904 and 1954, when the school closed; the school moved |
| 17 | | to its present location at 700 West Irving Park Road in |
| 18 | | Streamwood in 1988; and

| 19 | | WHEREAS, Thanks to the diligent efforts of Rich Janiec, |
| 20 | | Paula Lambertz, and numerous other members of the Streamwood |
| 21 | | Historical Society, the Hoosier Grove Schoolhouse Museum was |
| 22 | | one of only 8 schools in the nation to be added to the Country |
| 23 | | School Association of America's national historic register |
