| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives are pleased to honor Dr. O.C. Morgan, Sr. for |
| 4 | | his work and dedication to his church and his community; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Dr. O.C. Morgan, Sr. received his general |
| 6 | | education in Little Rock, Arkansas; he subsequently received |
| 7 | | his leadership training at Moody Bible Institute and his |
| 8 | | Biblical training at Chicago Baptist Institute; he later |
| 9 | | received an Honorary Doctorate from Urban Bible College in |
| 10 | | Michigan in 1988 and an Honorary Doctorate of Divinity from |
| 11 | | Arkansas 1st College in 1992; and
|
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Dr. O.C. Morgan, Sr. confessed his calling to the |
| 13 | | ministry in 1949 in Chicago at the Greater Lily Baptist Church, |
| 14 | | under the pastorate of Reverend G. B. Lock; he then served as |
| 15 | | an associate minister for 2 years; he was ordained in 1951 by |
| 16 | | Reverend L. H. Haynes; in 1958, he was called to Johnson Singer |
| 17 | | Baptist Church of Illinois, where he served until he was called |
| 18 | | to Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church of Chicago in 1959; in 1960, |
| 19 | | he was called to the Evening Star Missionary Baptist Church, |
| 20 | | where he has served as pastor for 43 years; and
|
| 21 | | WHEREAS, From 1987 to 1990, Dr. O.C. Morgan, Sr. served as |
| 22 | | president of the Baptist Minister's Conference of Chicago and |
