HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives are pleased to congratulate Jack Shales on 
4being honored with the Distinguished Citizens Award from the 
5Three Fires Council of the Boy Scouts of America; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, Jack Shales is a resident of Elgin and is a 
7partner at Shales McNutt Construction, LLC; and
  
 
8    WHEREAS, Mr. Shales has worked with and been a supporter 
9of: the Greater Elgin Area YMCA, the United Way of Elgin, the 
10Jayne Shover Easter Seals Association, the Cornerstone United 
11Methodist Church, Judson College, the City of Elgin, the Fox 
12Valley General Contractors Association, the Elgin Area Chamber 
13of Commerce, the Salvation Army of Elgin, Provena St. Joseph 
14Hospital, the Riverfront Action Committee, the YMCA Advisory 
15Board, Fox Valley Hospice, the Boys and Girls Club, and the EFS 
16Foundation; and
  
 
17    WHEREAS, He received the 1979 YMCA Distinguished Service 
18Award, the 1965 Junior Chamber of Commerce Distinguished 
19Service Award, the 1991 Willis A. Reed Humanitarian Award of 
20Elgin United Way, the 1982 Cosmopolitan Club Distinguished 
21Service Award, the 1998 Charles A. Bane Humanitarian Award of 
22Excellence, and a 2004 Honorary Doctorate of Humanities degree

2    WHEREAS, Jack Shales is married to Marlene Ellen Kane 
3Shales and they have 4 children: Michael, Kristin, Heidi, and 
4John; therefore, be it
  
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
6NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
7congratulate Jack Shales on this honor and wish him all the 
8best for the future; and be it further
  
 
9    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
10presented to Jack Shales as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
